The presentation focused on the scope of the Olympic and Paralympic Games: numbers of athletes, media professionals, TV Broadcast, sports, services, materials, and how the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee implemented a Sustainable Procurement Programme using the visibility and purchase power of the Games to develop the local market.
João Saravia is a Bachelor in International Relations and did his Master in Business Administration at Fundação Getulio Vargas, Rio de Janeiro. He also has a post graduation in Management, Marketing, and Law of Sport (FGV/FIFA/CIES), and in Sport Administration (International Olympic Committee, Brazilian Olympic Committee).
João Saravia is a Business Management Professional with a strong background of more than 15 years in Procurement, Supply-Chain and Consulting.
Currently Procurement Director at the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, he lead the team that contracted all services and materials for the operation of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As Procurement Director, he also conceived, developed and implemented the Rio 2016 Sustainable Supply-Chain Programme, and was responsible for the local market development programmes for the Games.
